Dylan O’Brien Lands Leading Role In ‘The Maze Runner’

Yup, Dylan once again has landed a leading role in the upcoming The Maze Runner which is a movie adaptation of the hit YA book trilogy that carries the same name. Dylan will play Thomas. Continue reading…

*Sigh* They grow up so fast! Our very own Dylan O’Brien of “Teen Wolf” is about to take Hollywood by storm, ladies and Gs. This morning, Deadline confirmed that the actor behind Stiles Stilinski (and part-time James Dean lookalike) landed the starring role of Thomas in the movie adaptation of the hit YA book trilogy, “The Maze Runner.” So much for being typecast as the best friend!

For those not familiar with the upcoming blockbuster franchise, it’s a “Hunger Games”-style dystopian sci-fi saga, in which a group of teenagers wakes up in a maze, with no recollection of how they got there, or where they came from. The film is being penned by former “Buried Life” Executive Producer Noah Oppenheim (keepin’ it in the family!) and also stars British “Skins” alum, Kayla Scodelario (kinda keepin’ it in the family!) as Thomas’ best friend and the sole girl in the maze.

We’re sorry to report that you’ll have to wait almost a year for the film’s release — Valentine’s Day 2014 — but at least you’ve got a whole season of “Teen Wolf” to chew on while you wait for Dylan’s big-screen debut! June 3: Be there.

Dylan O’Brien Talks “Sterek” & Lydia In Teen Wolf Season 3

We’ve just returned from a Teen Wolf press room at this year’s WonderCon in Anaheim, California, with the Teen Wolf panel moderated by Jim Halterman coming later today. We’ll have some interviews (with video!) up this weekend, but for those hungry for some news from the show, here’s a treat… Dylan O’Brien (Stiles) talks about what interaction he will or won’t have with Derek (Tyler Hoechlin), the character fans often “ship” him with on places like Tumblr, as well as the interaction he will or won’t have with Lydia (Holland Roden).

More specifically, with the character Danny getting a love interest, might that appease the “slash shippers” who want some male-male action on the show?

“You know, they’re not Facebook official,” Dylan teases, before telling us what we can or can’t expect with “Sterek.”

“Yeah. It’s kind of like we’ve fulfilled everyone’s, like, void that apparently the show has [with Danny]. Derek and Stiles are on a little bit of a break. No, I don’t know. We’re not in that many scenes together, for some reason. Our characters still have that rapport, and just because it’s not touched on as much… everything’s so much bigger. Derek’s world grows, Stiles’ world grows, hence they don’t have [as much] time. Even me and Posey don’t have as many scenes as we did together. It’s kind of the case with everybody on the show,” he explains.

Stiles will, however, have a lot of scenes with Lydia.”I’d say, yeah. I’ve been with Holland the most. Not romantically. Stiles kind of shelves that. Obviously he still has feelings for Lydia. It’s not going to go away overnight, or ever. That’s still the underlying thing of the season, but more of the focus is them becoming a team,” he says.

New Girl Exclusive: Could Teen Wolf’s Dylan O’Brien Be Jess’ First?

New Girl‘s Jess may have lost her virginity to a Teen Wolf star!

Dylan O’Brien, who portrays non-supernatural Stiles on the MTV series, is set to guest-star on an upcoming episode of New Girl, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

As creator Liz Meriwether revealed at Monday’s PaleyFest, a flashback episode slated to air in late April will feature the stories of how each of the New Girl gang lost their virginity. In that episode, O’Brien will play Jess’ (Zooey Deschanel) prom date, a gorgeous, romantic, guitar-playing 18-year-old who promises a memorable “first time” for Jess, who wants to lose her virginity to someone special. But will he be able to actually seal the deal?

Dylan O’brien talks ‘The Internship’

TEEN WOLF The MTV series is shooting season 3 in Los Angeles and I stopped by the set this week to chat up fan favorite Dylan O’Brien, who was definitely not slacking off during his hiatus. Instead, he was working on a big screen comedy with some very big box office names.
In The Internship, “Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughan are guys in their 40s, middle-aged salesmen, who lose their jobs, the company goes under, and they have to reinvent themselves in the new world of technology,” he told me. “They sign up to be interns at Google…and it’s a disaster because they’re a part of intern week and the interns are grouped into teams and compete against each other and the winning team gets jobs at Google.”
But like Stiles on Teen Wolf, O’Brien’s character isn’t one of the cool kids: “We’re kind of the ‘Bad News Bears’ who get slumped together,” he said with a smile. “Our team sucks and we have Owen and Vince, who don’t know anything. Then the rest of us are just the outcasts. There’s a reason why we’re not in any other group.”
The Internship also features familiar TV faces like Rose Byrne (Damages) and Jessica Szohr (Gossip Girl) and is set to hit screens on June 7. (More Teen Wolf chats coming closer to the premiere later this year)

Stiles & Derek: Dylan talks about how they should first meet this season

“Teen Wolf”: With all that’s going on with the new Alphas in Beacon Hills, fan faves Stiles and Derek don’t interact much in the first half of the season, but Dylan O’Brien has some ideas about how their first meeting of the year should go. “There aren’t any Stereky scenes so far,” O’Brien tells us, “But I had an idea for Jeff, that when we do finally meet, and if we have a scene that’s very expositional — like if we come together and something’s going on we have to converge and discuss something — then we should kind of stop at the end of it and before we walk away, Stiles should just say, ‘I missed you.’ Just to acknowledge it for the fans in little, funny ways.”
